Responsibility
Because of you, Maria and her two children are going to live in a safe, stable, and healthy home in the neighborhood they love.
Maria and her family have been connected to the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood for many years and both children go to school at Caser Chavez Elementary, only a few blocks from their new home.
Because of challenges with landlords, rental cost, and space, Maria decided to purchase a home through Habitat Kent. Throughout the program, Maria worked hard to earn sweat equity hours through both education and construction courses.
“Every class teaches something different,” Maria said. “[My kids] know that it is not easy to get a house and you have to work for it. I hope they learn to be responsible to maintain this place.”
Gabriel and Kimberly are most excited to have their own rooms and to be able to walk to their school and still live close to their friends.
“I do want to thank everyone that came and volunteered to help us build the house,” Maria said. “They did a great job.”
Thank you for helping Maria and her children build a place of their own that will create stability and strength for the future.
