Building community together

Neighborhoods are a significant part of providing Habitat Kent homeowners with opportunities to feel safe and stable.

At Habitat Kent we do more than build homes. We practice Neighborhood Engagement in the focus neighborhoods where we build new homes by listening to neighbors and collaborating with local government and community-based organizations to help new and existing homeowners become connected and empowered leaders.

Because when neighborhoods are connected and empowered they have a strong foundation for building hope, opportunity, and stability!

We’re Stronger Together

Meet Our Team

Andrew Claucherty

Neighborhood Revitalization Specialist

As a newer resident of Grand Rapids, I love getting to know this city and the amazing people who live here. At Habitat Kent I have the privilege of working with the amazing homebuyers and neighborhoods to think about how together, we can make your neighborhood a great place to live.

I would love to help you plan an event or project to bring people together in your neighborhood. Let’s meet and see what we can dream up together!

Jesenia Camacho

Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator

My decision to join Habitat came when I was accepted into the Traditional Homeownership program. Every step of the way has been an amazing experience. I am excited to meet future homebuyers as well as share my journey in hopes that we can get more families into homes of their own.

My goal is to get to know our neighbors on a personal level and help you achieve homeownership and engage in your neighborhood by listening to your wants and needs. I am happy to be a part of this mission. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and I am excited to hear from you soon!

Quality of Life

Quality of life is the sense of well-being and happiness experienced by individuals, groups and communities. In each of the neighborhoods where we work, the ultimate goal is to bring residents, community associations, and other partners together to improve the quality of life based on neighbors’ gifts, dreams, and concerns.

Construction opportunities are full day commitments. Should you prefer a partial day activity or volunteers to work in shifts you will be scheduled for specific tasks or in one of our 3 ReStore locations.
  • Age restrictions apply to certain projects and will be enforced. Most tasks require volunteers to be at least 16 years old. Specific jobs may allow other ages. These restrictions will be indicated by a member of the volunteer services department when a date is offered.
  • Please acknowledge that you understand groups may not be confirmed until 30-60 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE AGREED UPON by our volunteer services department. Due to the volume of requests for volunteer opportunities, we will ask that you agree/disagree to the date we offer within a week’s time (unless otherwise noted in our email). This ensures we can look for an alternative date if necessary and place you within a timely fashion.
  • After the completed form is submitted expect to be contacted by a member of our volunteer services department within one week.
