Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is looking for certified Section 3 businesses and individuals who work in many trades related to home construction to work with us on several of our build projects in the Southtown area of Grand Rapids (Alger Heights, Boston Square, Franklin and Eastern, Madison Square, Seymour Square and part of South Division).
Fields include: Concrete, Tree Work, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Gutter, and Excavation.

A Section 3 Worker:
- Has an income of 80% of the Area Median Income or less ($50,150 or less)
*Income is based on the individual, not the household’s income - Is someone employed by a Section 3 Business (see below for more on Section 3 Businesses)
A Targeted Section 3 Worker is a Section 3 Worker who:
- Is employed by a Section 3 Business (see below for more on Section 3 Businesses); or
- Lives within one mile of the project (currently, projects are in the Southtown area of Grand Rapids).
A Section 3 Business is, documented within the last six months:
- 51% or more owned/controlled by a person with an income of 80% of the Area Median Income or less ($50,150 or less)
*Income is based on the individual, not the household’s income - > 75% of labor hours performed over the prior three-month period are performed by workers with an income of 80% of the Area Median Income or less; or
- 51% or more owned/controlled by current residents of public housing or Section 8 residents
