“My journey with Habitat was beautiful.” – Carmen, Habitat Kent homeowner 

That journey started for Carmen after years of renting and living with her mother. When she began looking into homeownership, she faced obstacles because of her credit score. Carmen began working on improving her credit and learning more about finances. Then she heard about Habitat Kent through another Habitat homeowner. 

Today, Carmen, her husband, and her four children are thriving in their home and community. Her oldest daughter and son go to school across the street and they love participating in programs offered right in their neighborhood. Soon, there will also be a newly constructed park that the whole family can enjoy. 

Carmen is now a licensed financial coach. She explains that a few months after closing on her home, she thought, “I feel stable and I have my home – one goal accomplished, now let’s achieve another.” 

“Habitat wasn’t just about getting a home; it was a journey of growth. It taught me skills, built my confidence, and helped me achieve personal and financial stability. I’m so proud to be a Habitat homeowner, and the experience remains one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my life. I would do it all over again!”
