A Housing Shortage
We are facing a serious housing problem here in Kent County.
The significant housing shortage in our community, coupled with rapidly increasing housing prices is creating an affordability issue for many households with low incomes and first-time homebuyers.

Housing demand is up 59% in the City of Grand Rapids and 54% in Kent County since 2020
Equitable Housing
Kent County is the 5th worst county in the nation for equitable homeownership.

Long-term affordability
Through a new, innovative approach to long-term affordability, Habitat Kent homes will remain affordable for families with low-to-moderate incomes for over 90 years!
Roosevelt Park Development
High-density homes in Roosevelt Park
We’ll partner with for-profit developers to build a 50-house development, best using the available space to maximize the number of homeownership opportunities in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood.
Leadership Development
Resident leadership program
We’ll conduct a city-wide resident leadership program in collabortion with other nonprofits and community organizations that helps residents build positive relationships and lead change in their communities.
New Homes & Rehabs
New & light rehabs throughout Grand Rapids
Another 50 affordable housing opportunities will be created through new builds and light rehabs in Baxter and Roosevelt Park – two Grand Rapids neighborhoods that have long been underserved.
Community Resources
Nonprofit Partner
We’ll work with a local nonprofit to use the office that Habitat Kent currently occupies, making sure a valuable resource is available to the surrounding neighborhood.
