Business Development Director
We are currently seeking a full-time Business Development Director to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position provides opportunities for housing sales by building partnerships through market research, creating sales strategies, developing relationships with stakeholders, and creating a community presence as it relates to housing sales. This position leads a team that provides program services in sales, education, neighborhood engagement, and volunteerism.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure the proper performance of the team in quality, selection, support, and education of homebuyers, in volunteer recruitment strategies, utilization and recognition of exceptional experience, and in engagement strategies, programs, and initiatives of homeowners.
- Ensure the development and execution of the business development strategy.
- Provide market research and strategy initiatives by analyzing market trends and identifying new markets or untapped potential.
- Work alongside community partners to identify homebuyer opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with clients, partners, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Successfully acquire and retain relationships by promoting the organization’s products and services, addressing or predicting clients’ objectives through the departmental team’s skill and knowledge.
- Work with the Communications team to align strategies and support growth initiatives.
- Understand homeownership goals for single and multifamily unit sales, including financial, quality, and customer satisfaction metrics; maintain departmental strategy for goal acquisition.
- Positively represent the organization in all client interactions and project development, including design review facilitation and participation, as needed.
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Develop proposals and presentations for partners.
- Represent the organization at industry and community events to build a robust network of professional contacts, enhance brand visibility, and drive program outreach.
- Attend home dedications and groundbreaking activities.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of Habitat for Humanity of Kent and Northern Muskegon Counties.
- Receive and maintain professional development training necessary to fulfill the minimum standards of the essential responsibilities, including annual training dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture, enhancing intercultural competencies, and promoting fairness and belonging for all individuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ proven working experience as a business manager, sales executive, or relevant role.
- Experience leading others.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and CRM software or related area.
- In-depth attention to detail concerning all aspects of the development process and financial impact.
- Real estate or construction-related sales and/or development experience and knowledge desired but not required.
- Effective time management, planning and prioritization skills.
- Excellent task management and organizational skills.
- Experience in affordable housing a plus.
- Effective interpersonal, listening and communication skills (written and oral) and ability to build rapport.
- Strong focus on client satisfaction with a collaborative and positive demeanor.
- Demonstrated experience developing high-impact proposals and executive-level presentations that convert prospects into partners.

Pay Range and Benefits:
- Salary range: $70,000-80,000 a year
