HABITAT KENT VETERAN PROGRAM
We are teaming up with military and veteran families, volunteers and community
organizations to build a home for a veteran family who served our country proudly.
This year, Habitat Kent will complete its fourth Veteran Habitat Build home!
WAYS TO BE INVOLVED
We currently have two veterans builds in progress at 210 Gold and 1309 Rathbone.
VETERAN HABITAT BUILD
Habitat Kent launched the Veteran Build program in 2011 and has since completed 5 Veteran Build homes. The sixth being 1009 Alpine St. that will wrap up this summer.
VETERAN HOME REPAIR
Habitat Kent was one of the exclusive Habitat affiliates nationwide to be selected by the Home Depot Foundation for a Repair Corps partnership, which facilitates home repairs and renovations for local veteran homeowners. We have earned this distinct honor for three consecutive years.
In July 2014, Habitat Kent launched “Vet-Hats,” a program that seeks to mobilize veteran service and build bridges by uniting veteran and civilian volunteer teams on Habitat projects across Kent County.
DONATE IN HONOR OR MEMORY
Any gift, no matter the size, helps a Habitat veteran family create a better life for themselves and future generations. You can donate to the Habitat Veteran Build in honor or memory of a military veteran. The person you honor or family of the veteran you give in memory will receive a card in the mail recognizing your gift in their name. We are in need of the following to complete the Veteran Build:
- Building supplies
- Contracted labor
- Financial gifts
- Donate online
- Cash or checks payable to Habitat for Humanity of Kent County can be delivered to 425 Pleasant St. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Each person has the ability to make a difference in the life of a Habitat family – no experience required! We need help with:
- House construction
- Volunteer recruitment
These construction dates are available for the Veteran Habitat Build:
Please check back on the Volunteer Hub for volunteer opportunities on other Habitat sites.
