Getting Started

  • Call the Habitat office for an information packet to be sent to you (616 / 774 2431).
  • Schedule yourself to attend an "Introduction to Homeownership" class.
  • Attend a series of application meetings at Habitat for Humanity. For a list of upcoming meeting dates, contact mreyes@habitatkent.org
  • Collect required information for your application, including:
    • Contact information for previous and current employers
    • Current pay stubs
    • Last two years W-2's and tax returns
    • Recent proof of any cash assistance and food stamps received
    • Disability/SSI income statements
    • Proof of child support payments
    • Proof of military benefits/workman's compensation/or unemployment
    • Proof of any other income (for applicant or any other person in the household who has an income)
    • Rent receipts
    • Previous Landlord information
    • Copy of most current utility bills
    • List of any current debts

Those applicants who meet our income guidelines and pass a credit history review will be interviewed in their homes by members of Habitat's Selection Committee.
