Empowering our veteran
We are teaming up with military and veteran families, volunteers and community organizations to build and renovate houses for local veterans through these programs:
Each year we build a house for a veteran family. Families that have a need for a home, earn 25-80% of area median income and are willing to partner with us may qualify to own a Habitat home. Military and veteran families are encouraged to apply, including those with needs for adaptive housing.
We partner with many organizations to provide home repairs for qualifying veterans. Repairs may include plumbing, electrical, insulation, roofing, bathroom and doorway renovations and ramps to accommodate Veterans with a disability.
Our Kent County ReStore locations proudly offer a 10% military discount to thank veterans and active military for their service. Valid military or veteran ID required.
Uniting veterans for a greater cause
This initiative focuses on four core strategies for our veteran community:
We empower veteran communities to join forces and support each other by volunteering side-by-side on various Habitat projects.
We partner with local and national organizations to provide employment resources for veterans.
We offer financial and homeownership education to veterans struggling to build assets or just to make ends meet.
We advocate for veteran and military families by spotlighting the challenges they face while raising awareness about opportunities available to them.
