A retired teacher learning how to install vinyl siding. A college student waking up early on a Saturday morning. A Bible study group putting their beliefs to work. A business sponsoring a family's dream. Individuals working together to accomplish one incredible goal: a world which everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to live with dignity.
This is Habitat.
At Habitat for Humanity of Kent County we know the power of putting down roots. We understand the importance of achieving the impossible because we see firsthand the life-changing effects of owning a home. In the last three decades, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County have built over 300 homes. Inside those structures are hundreds of men, women and children who now have a strong roof over their heads and a solid floor under their feet. Their lives have been forever impacted by having a place to come home to every night.
We believe that by serving God and putting our faith in action we help transform lives through homeownership. Our homes are built "green" and are sold under unique terms to offer hope and dignity for the families who move in. Both community engagement and personal transformation are necessary for restorative justice and systemic change. Our volunteers are confronted by poverty housing issues here in Kent County and by working alongside people from every walk of life, statistics become faces with names. Our collaborations and partnerships allow us to revitalize whole neighborhoods so we spread the hope of homeownership across our city, state, nation and world.
This is Habitat. This is what we do every day and we invite you to join us.
