GRCC Tassell M-TEC Construction Trades instructor Duane McIntyre and his students built this new, highly energy efficient, LEED home.

Not only is it a well-built, safe, functional building but it is the most energy efficient home HFHKC has ever built! For you energy nerds (like our Construction Team) check out the HERS rating: 52! Even more impressive, the blower door result was 385 Cubic feet per minute at 50 pascal. If you don't know what that means, take our word for it: This home is very energy efficient.

The five-bedroom home will feature rigid foam, NuWool cellulose, spray foam insulation, advanced framing techniques, Insulated Concrete Form foundation, mechanical ventilation, ENERGY STAR appliances, WaterSense fixtures, low VOC finishes and low maintenance landscaping. The home has already achieved ZeroStep Certification for adaptability and is registered for LEED for Homes Silver Certification through the US Green Building Council.
