Wealthy Heights Partnership Project

Simple. Decent. Affordable. Historic. LEED Certified.

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County’s Wealthy Heights Partnership Project

Grand Rapids, Michigan – In June 2010 Habitat for Humanity of Kent County kicked off one of its most extensive partnership projects to date. Habitat Kent will help continue the revitalization of one of Grand Rapids’ most eclectic & diverse areas – the Wealthy Heights neighborhood of East Hills.

The Partnership Project will include road renovation, rehab of existing homes, repairs and even some new home construction.

Owner-occupied homes will also receive attention through “A Brush With Kindness” which paints and repairs homes and weatherization which improves the safety and energy efficiency of an existing home.

Through partnerships with Grand Rapids Community College, students learning green construction techniques will do work on a number of these homes.

Habitat’s newest program, YouthBuild Grand Rapids which helps ask-risk 18-24 year olds obtain GED, life skills training and Pre Apprenticeship Construction Training, will also rehab homes in Wealthy Heights as a learning laboratory.

When Habitat is done a quarter of Wealthy Heights will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified.
